Hola! Mexico here, your local Latin lover. Ha ha I'm kidding! Bienvenido ~ My name's Manuel, but you can just call me Manny! Not much else to say, but if you see that clingy Spain anywhere, warn me so I can get the fuck outta here. Enjoy your stay! Adios!
((Independent Hetalia role-play account of the fancharacter Mexico. Shitty art by me, but if for some reason you wanna draw him, by all means, please. orz If you wish to speak with me personally, use my main blog. Thank you.))
➔ The art in my icon is actually mine. This is how my version of Mexico looks like.
➔ And the picture in the sidebar is also mine. Shitty art is shitty so I’ll get a better one up later when I figure out shading and my lines come out smoother. orz
➔ I may or may not use other fanon Mexico designs for things like when Manuel is trying to give visuals to his childhood and such. I’m indecisive about this since I’m picky about designs.
➔ Yes, I do in fact speak Spanish, but my first language is English. I feel ashamed because I am not as fluent in it as I should be. But anyway, from time to time Manuel will use Spanish in his sentences. So if I get a tense wrong or spell a word incorrectly, please do not bite my head off, but instead, correct me in a polite manner. This would help me out a lot.
➔ Yes, I am actually Mexican in real life. This is basically why I created a fanon Mexico in the first place. But I was born in the United States, and only one of my parents is actually from Mexico. Still, I primarily use English at home and only speak in Spanish when I am conversing with my grandparents or other elders in my family, which is not often. Thus, my reason for not being able to speak Spanish as fluently as I should, at least in my opinion.
➔ Manuel’s personality is based on stereotypes of Mexicans that Americans have, and personality traits that I often find in media, whether American or Mexican. He is also based on things I’ve discovered while doing research on the actual country of Mexico. He is not perfect. I never intended for him to be, but I did want to make him as realistic as possible so hopefully my fanon version portrays that. If not, then I apologize.
➔ In addition, I would appreciate it if you refrain from attacking me when I can’t answer your historical based questions in an instant. Like I said, research is still underway!
➔ I am not the only Mexico role-player on Tumblr, this I know as a fact (though I may be the only active one) so if you have a problem with how Manuel is portrayed, there is this button that says “Unfollow” on the top right-hand corner of this blog, which you can press at any time. I am not going to change my headcanon for you. Sorry. :C
➔ If you find something culturally incorrect or something you take offense to, please tell me! I am trying my best not to offed anyone, but notify me in a civil manner, not something hateful or childish. “But you’re Mexican too!” Yes I am, but like I said, I was born in the United States so Mexican culture here slightly varies from the culture in Mexico, and I am still doing research on this country, so I have a lot to learn! This is the reason why I took a month and a half break from this account, because I was afraid I might offend people, and I wanted to develop Manuel more.
➔ I have a shipping bias with this guy. Most people, from what I’ve observed, like America/Mexico. While I like that pairing too, my version of Mexico does not harbor romantic feelings for Alfred, and he never did. He may have fooled around with him on a few occasions, but he never felt anything past the idea of friendship. Manuel, first and foremost, sees Alfred as his buddy, not his lover or anything else that treads into the region of “romance”.
➔ Who is my shipping bias with Manuel? Oh ho ho, well that is a secret! It’s amazing what historical research does to a Hetalia fan. I may or may not reveal it. It depends on what people think since I feel like I am the only one (so far) who ships this canon character with him so…yeah. But if you pay close attention to how he interacts with certain characters, you just might be able to figure it out ~
➔ Though I have done a fair amount of research on the country Mexico, I am still not finished learning about it. So if Manuel doesn’t really interact with your character, it’s not that I don’t like you or that he doesn’t like your character. It’s because I haven’t done research yet on that particular country and it’s relationship with Mexico in the past and present. Honestly, the only characters he can really have a lot of interaction with is America and Spain, for obvious reasons.
➔ My version of Mexico is not fond of Lovino. He doesn’t hate him, but he gets annoyed with him and his smartass mouth. I already explained the reasons for this in a headcanon post, but in case you missed it, Manuel doesn’t like Lovino because he was treated a lot better by Antonio in their childhood. He envied the Italian for that, and still does to this day. Personally? Oh well I’m actually rather fond of Lovino myself. I adore male tsunderes, but it’s more fitting for Manuel to dislike him given the circumstances.
➔ Manuel is flirtatious with the female characters, including gender-swaps (even if it happens to be fem!Lovino), but he’s more like a bro towards the male characters. Despite that, he gives no flying fucks if he has to kiss them or something. He’s an affectionate person anyway. Just as long as it’s not Confred. Manuel completely loathes him and wants him dead.
➔ But though the above is true, he does not sleep around. He has to really like you up to the point of even loving you for that to happen. He doesn’t discriminate either. He doesn’t care what your cultural background is nor if you’re male/female. If he really likes you, then that’s that.
➔ Because I have a shipping bias with this guy, he won’t establish a romantic relationship with anyone, canon or fanon. If he tries, he’ll fail too hard. There is only one person he’s genuinely in love with, but he tries not to make it obvious, although if you can catch on to who he holds these affections for, that’s your answer as to the only person he’d want to commit himself to. Really, what reading up on history does to my shipping preferences… Nobody knows who his love interest is except Alfred, but he won’t tell you either.
➔ I know most people like for Antonio to see his Latin American colonies as his children, but Manuel never saw him as a father figure or relative, only as a boss. So if he happens to be a smartass and even a douche with Antonio, it’s because of his childhood. Manuel isn’t mean all the time though, and is generally very friendly. It’s just that he’s prone to bursts of rage since he has a short temper. He does care about Antonio, considering my research gave me the relationship between Spain and Mexico to be “very close and warm” in the current era, but Manuel is still tsun tsun about it. *shot*
➔ I do not role-play smut. I just can’t. If I’m incapable of writing it in fanfictions, there is no way I can write it in role-plays.
➔ When I role-play, I prefer to use the lit style instead of using things like brackets and such, since it’s easier for me. But on your end, role-play however you want! I’m fine with reading in both ~
That’s about all I can think of concerning my role-playing preferences with this character. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this! Don’t be afraid to role-play with me, or if you can’t figure out what to write. I’m sure if we both improvise, we’ll be able to think of something! ;)
